Three teenage girls who allegedly led police on a pursuit in a stolen car have been arrested and charged, NSW Police say.
Just before 1am (Sunday 25 February 2018), police were alerted to a stolen Ford Ranger through the use of Automatic Numberplate Recognition (ANPR) technology at Liverpool.
Officers followed the vehicle on the Hume Highway before activating lights and sirens to signal the car to stop.
A pursuit was initiated with the car continuing to drive on the Hume Highway, at one stage crossing to the wrong side of the road and hitting a gutter.
Reaching alleged speeds of up to 130km/h the car continued onto the Horsley Drive and stopped at Carramar where two passengers exited.
The two girls, aged 15 and 16, were arrested while the car continued into Carramar Avenue before stopping.
The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was also arrested with all three girls taken to Fairfield Police Station.
The 17-year-old girl was charged with drive conveyance, driver recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye’s Law), and being an unaccompanied learner driver.
She was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.
The other two girls were charged with being carried in a conveyance, with the 15-year-old girl additionally charged with goods in custody.
They were granted bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 20 March 2018.
