Teenager arrested after North Melbourne stabbing

Detectives from the Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit have arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy following a stabbing in North Melbourne on Monday night.

The teenager was arrested at his Flemington address yesterday afternoon and later charged with:

• intentionally cause serious injury (circumstances of gross violence)

• recklessly cause serious injury (circumstances of gross violence)

• intentionally cause serious injury

• recklessly cause serious injury

• armed robbery

He was remanded to appear before a children's court today.

The charges follow an incident at a Stawell Street park where a 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed about 5pm on 31 May.

The Box Hill boy was located with life-threatening injuries on Dryburgh Street and transported to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
