Teenager arrested after two police pursuits in south-west Sydney

Police have arrested a teenager following a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west today, NSW Police say.

About 7.15am today, police attached to St George Local Area Command were patrolling the Princes Highway, Carlton, when they observed a stolen Ford Falcon sedan.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; and a pursuit was initiated when it failed to stop for police.

A short time later, the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

About 7.30am today, officers attached to Bankstown Traffic & Highway Patrol Command observed the stolen Ford Falcon allegedly travelling above the speed limit along Henry Lawson Drive, Milperra.

A pursuit was commenced when the driver failed to stop and continued to Belmore Road, Riverwood where the Ford had a minor collision with a police vehicle and came to a stop.

The driver and two occupants ran from the scene.

The driver, a 17-year-old teenager, was arrested a short time later with the assistance of the dog unit.

He was taken to St George Hospital under police guard and treated for minor injuries before being taken to St George Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
