Teenager charged following foot pursuit, NSW

Police have arrested and charged a teenager with an alleged break and enter offence after a foot pursuit and search in Broken Hill today, NSW Police say.

About 3.40am on Monday (21 August 2017), entry was forced to a cafe in Argent Street, Broken Hill, during which the tip jar and other items were taken.

Following inquiries, police attempted to speak to a 14-year-old boy at a Broken Hill property about 1pm today but he ran from the scene.

Police chased the teenager who ran through a number of houses and jumped a number of fences, but officers eventually lost sight of him.

An extensive search was conducted and about 3pm the teenager was seen at another location but again ran from police, jumping numerous fences to run through backyards.

With assistance provided by members of the community, police located the teenager nearby and placed him under arrest.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with break enter and steal. He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court tomorrow.
