Teenager dies in hospital following crash, NSW

A teenager has died in hospital following a serious crash at Batemans Bay yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6.30pm yesterday, a Subaru Forrester was travelling on Rotary Drive, when it left the road, rolled and hit a tree.

Police have been told a relative was notified and attended the scene, taking the four occupants – aged 17, 16, 15 and 14 – to Batemans Bay Hospital.

One of the rear passengers, a 15-year-old boy, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transferred to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition; however died about 3.30pm today.

A second rear passenger, a 16-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries. She was treated at Batemans Bay Hospital and later released.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was not injured but underwent mandatory blood and urine testing.

The front passenger, a 14-year-old girl, was also uninjured.

Police from the Far South Coast Local Area Command were notified and attended the scene.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
