Teens arrested in stolen vehicle in Rockhampton, QLD

Three teens have been arrested, with police looking for a fourth, after an alleged stolen vehicle was driven from Rockhampton to west of Chinchilla today, Queensland Police say.

Police will allege the vehicle was stolen from a Denning Street, Park Avenue home around 1.45am this morning.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on the Carnarvon Highway north of Roma around 10.50am however it allegedly failed to stop and fled away at speed.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle using a tyre deflation device on the highway however the vehicle drove off the roadway and around the deflation device.

Police pursued the vehicle along the highway however the pursuit was terminated due to the alleged dangerous and excessive high speeds the vehicle was travelling at.

A police vehicle was damaged when the alleged stolen vehicle performed a u-turn in front of it around 12.30pm on the Leichhardt Highway. It is believed no-one was injured as a result of the crash.

The vehicle travelled along the Leichhardt Highway before entering the Warrego Highway and heading towards Chinchilla, with the vehicle coming to a stop and the four teenage occupants fleeing on foot at around 1.15pm.

Police arrested two 13-year-old (a boy and girl) and a 16-year-old boy soon after. The fourth teen, the driver of the vehicle remains outstanding.

All three have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police.

Police investigations are continuing.
