Three teenage boys and a woman have been charged after vehicles stolen, pursuit and a police vehicle rammed in the state's west earlier this month.
On Saturday 12 July 2025, police were called to a home on Vincent Place, Kelso, following reports of a break and enter.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended and were told unknown people had allegedly broken into the home and stole a station wagon and a utility.
About 2.30pm Monday 14 July 2025, police received a report that the allegedly stolen vehicles were driving in the Kelso area.
Patrolling police attempted to stop the stolen cars on Sydney Road; however, when they allegedly failed to do so a pursuit was initiated.
The stolen cars allegedly reached speeds of 90km/h in 50km/h signposted zones as the pursuit travelled through Kelso and Bathurst.
When the pursuit reached Mitre Street, West Bathurst, the utility allegedly rammed a marked police vehicle before continuing to drive away.
The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
No police were injured in the pursuit.
Following inquiries, officers attached to Central West Police District located the allegedly stolen station wagon on Kurim Avenue, Orange, later that same day.
About 11am yesterday (Wednesday 16 July 2025), police located the allegedly stolen utility on Garema Road, Orange.
Both vehicles were seized for forensic examination.
Following further inquiries, officers attached to Central West Police District – with assistance officers from Operation Soteria – arrested three teens at homes across Orange yesterday.
They were taken to Orange Police Station, where two of the teens, aged 16 and 17, were both charged with aggravated break & enter dwelling in company steal less than $60,000 (4), take and drive conveyance without consent of owner (3) and dishonestly obtain property by deception.
The 17-year-old was also charged with four outstanding warrants.
A second 17-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
All three teens were refused bail to appear before children's court today (Thursday 17 July 2025).
During the arrest of two of the teens a 23-year-old woman allegedly attempted to stop police. She was charged with hinder/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty.
The 23-year-old will appear before Orange Local Court on Thursday 28 August 2025.
