Two teenage P-plate divers have been charged after allegedly street racing through western Sydney overnight, NSW Police say.
Shortly after 9.30pm (Saturday 2 June 2018), police were patrolling the Great Western Highway, near Jones Street, Wentworthville, and observed two vehicles stationary at the intersection.
Police allege both vehicles began racing each other reaching speeds of more than 125km/h in a marked 80km/h zone.
A Honda Civic – being driven by a 17-year-old teenager and a Holden utility – being driven by an 18-year-old– were stopped by police.
Officers attached to Cumberland Traffic & Highway Patrol Command suspended their provisional driving licences on the spot.
A 17-year-old boy from Toongabbie, was issued a field court attendance for illegal street racing, exceeding speed limit over 30km/h, and drive high-performance vehicle.
An 18-year-old man from Merrylands, was issued with a field court attendance notice for illegal street racing and exceed speed limit over 30km/h. He was also issued with a number plate confiscation notice for three months.
They will attend Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 10 July 2018.
