A temporary truss bridge has been delivered and installed at the Somerton Bridge today as Council looks to restore a Peel River crossing at Somerton. Council crews will now complete additional works such as access ramps and safety barriers on the approaches to the bridge, with the aim of allowing vehicle access around September 19, weather permitting.
A second truss bridge will be delivered to Dunmore Causeway at Halls Creek Saturday 12 September with the aim of restoring access by the end of the month.
Both temporary bridges will be capable of carrying heavy vehicles and will mark the end of significant detours for residents who live and work on either side of the river.
We thank these residents and communities for your continued patience. Another update will be provided when access is restored.
