Tenpin Bowling National Championships to return to Hobart

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Hospitality and Events

Zone Bowling in Moonah will play host to the 59th Tenpin Bowling National Championships, with five major events scheduled to take place between 19 July and 15 August.

This is the first time since 2006 that the National Championships has been hosted in Tasmania, and only the fourth time since the event's inception in 1962.

This year's event will see both the Junior and Adult National Championships, as well as the Australian Masters, with elite and aspiring elite players participating.

Tasmania is recognised nationally and internationally for delivering a range of events, reinforcing our strong brand and providing significant economic and social benefits to our State.

While recent COVID-19 restrictions have impacted the number of participants in this year's championships, the competition is still looking healthy for those attending the COVID-safe event.

I hope all the competitors enjoy their visit to Tasmania, and take the time to get out and about and sample our excellent hospitality venues which will provide a boost to the local economies.

The Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania has committed a total of $395,000 over three years in funding for the Australian National Championships.
