This National Road Safety Week, Territorians are urged to drive like our lives are worth living and make our roads safer for all.
National Road Safety Week runs from Sunday 11 May to Sunday 18 May 2025.
Brett Clifford, Director Road Safety and Compliance, Department of Logistics and Infrastructure, said the initiative provides an opportunity to shine a light on road safety.
"We know every serious road crash has ongoing and devastating effects for our families and communities. Sadly this year, 10 people have lost their lives on our roads.
"These people are not just numbers; they are family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours, and their tragic loss of life is felt by many.
"Our message to Territorians is simple - drive like your lives are worth living."
Too many lives are lost or changed forever on Territory roads. The fatality rate on NT roads is 4 times the national average*. The Northern Territory Government is calling on Territorians to change this statistic through immediate behaviour change.
National Road Safety Week is a timely reminder that as individuals, and as a community, we all have the power to make our roads safer.
You can show your support for National Road Safety Week by honouring those we have lost on the road and taking the pledge to Drive So Others Survive. Display or wear a yellow ribbon throughout the week and take the opportunity to have conversations about positive and safe road culture with your family and friends.
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure's Road Safety Team and Hector the Road Safety Cat will participate in community-led events across the Territory.
