The Easy to do Business program has reached a new milestone with more than 1500 aspiring small business owners receiving help from a dedicated Business Concierge.
Business owners know setting up a business can be tough because it’s hard to know what forms to fill out and what steps to take to get up and running. That’s changing.
Easy to do Business was designed by Service NSW and the NSW Small Business Commissioner to make it easier for small business.
The program includes a Business Concierge team who can jump on the phone to help with everything from getting a council development application right the first time, to applying for outdoor dining, and liquor licensing.
The program is quickly getting traction with the small business customers who need it. More than 1500 people have now received personalised support from a Business Concierge. Demand for the service has soared in recent months. Only last November, the team was celebrating helping 1000 business owners.
Service NSW Chief Executive Officer Damon Rees said it’s just one example of how we are making business easier for so many people.
"The Business Concierge service is such an important part of the Easy to do Business program and the team should be very proud of this milestone," Mr Rees said.
"We’ve built a process that’s simple. You register online and then a Business Concierge will call you back, often within one business day. They’ll then guide you through the whole process of setting up and growing your business," he said.
"This award-winning program means small business owners can open their doors faster and with a lot less stress and hassle, which is fantastic. It makes business owners even more confident to invest in their local areas," Robyn Hobbs OAM, the NSW Small Business Commissioner said.
Easy to Do Business is helping small businesses across NSW but has launched with a focus on cafés, restaurants or small bars, and those in the housing construction sector. A digital self-service platform with a dashboard that provides step-by-step industry specific information is also available to customers and has already been used by thousands of business owners.
There are also how-to guides which help business owners understand the timelines, licence requirements, regulations and fees they can expect to encounter. They’re available for the cafe, restaurant and small bar industry, the housing construction sector, as well as for road freight, clothing retail and printing services.
Easy to do Business is a joint initiative of the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner, Service NSW and the Better Regulation Division to make NSW the easiest state to do business.
