Theft and deception at Doncaster East gym

Police are investigating a number of thefts from a Doncaster East gym last month and subsequent deceptions in the area, Victoria Police say.

It is believed a man entered a Reynolds Road centre on three occasions between 21 March and 3 April, falsely claiming to be a member to access a secure area.

On the first occasion on 21 March, the offender has attended the gym shortly before 10.30pm, stealing a wallet containing credit cards which were then used at several locations in Blackburn, Templestowe and Templestowe Lower, as well as a service station in Doncaster.

The man again entered the gym on 29 March about 6.30am, stealing a wallet and a car parked outside the gym.

Cards from that wallet were then used within the Templestowe Lower area.

On the third occasion, the man attended the gym about 10.30pm but did not steal anything.

Investigators have released images and CCTV footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be of Southern European appearance, unshaven and wearing a blue shirt, black cap, grey shorts and black runners.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
