Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a series of thefts and deceptions which occurred in Wheelers Hill and Glen Waverley earlier this month, Victoria Police say.
It is believed an unknown woman attended a homewares store at a Wheelers Hill shopping complex on Springvale and Ferntree Gully roads about 3.40pm on 8 January.
The woman allegedly reached over the counter and stole a staff member’s phone and wallet, before leaving on foot.
She has then made at least four further thefts of a similar nature while within the shopping centre.
The victim’s credit card was used a short time later to purchase a number of printer cartridges and gift cards at an office supplies store on Springvale Road, Glen Waverley.
Police have released an image of a woman they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
