Footscray police are investigating the theft of mail in Yarraville on 2 May, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told a male offender was captured on CCTV at 4am entering an apartment foyer in Ballarat Street, Yarraville.
Once inside the man appears to rummage through unlocked letterboxes. He has also managed to open several locked letterboxes and steal contents from within.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian, 20 to 30-years-old, wearing a dark red hooded jumper with white writing, blue jeans, a black and white trucker cap and black socks.
Police have released images of the man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
