Theft of wallet in Preston leads to deceptions

Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man following a series of deceptions in Brunswick and Coburg last month.

The deceptions were committed after a vehicle was broken into and a wallet stolen in George Street, Preston on 17 November.

A bank card was then used the same day for purchases from eight businesses in nearby suburbs.

Detectives have released images of a man who they believe can assist with their investigation.

The man is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, average height and build, with a black ponytail and aged between 25-35 years.

He was dressed in a black Kathmandu jacket, black jeans, grey Asics running shoes and a white face mask.

Anyone who recognises the man or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppervic.com.au.
