Thefts from vehicles at Coomera, QLD

Detectives from Taskforce Latro West at Coomera have released CCTV footage of two men that may be able to assist with their investigations into thefts from vehicles in the last few weeks, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations suggest that two offenders are targeting unlocked vehicles and are stealing wallets and small valuable items. They then use stolen credit cards to hire taxis and purchase assorted goods from various service stations around the Northern end of the Gold Coast

Detective Sergeant Todd Miller said police have received 26 reports of unlawful entry to motor vehicles in the past six weeks in the Pimpama area alone.

"The aim of Taskforce Latro West is to reduce incidents of property crime and to ensure offenders are caught and prosecuted. We employ a number of proactive policing strategies to reduce this type of crime but we also need the help of the local community.

"It is a timely reminder to make sure your vehicle is secured regardless of where it is parked. Make sure to remove valuables from your vehicle or ensure they are out of sight. Most criminals are opportunistic and if they see an easy target they’ll pounce." Detective Sergeant Miller said.

Police are asking anyone who may be able to identify the men in the CCTV vision to contact Crime Stoppers or your local police station.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
