Thief targets taxis in Lalor and Thomastown

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following thefts from seven taxis left parked in the Lalor and Thomastown area over the last two months, Victoria Police say.

The thefts have all occurred in the late evening or overnight, between March 16 and

May 8, when the taxis have been left parked in the street.

The thief smashes the vehicle’s windows to gain entry before stealing items such as EFTPOS machines, cab charge dockets, loose change and any other items of value.

Incidents have occurred at:

• Roberts Street, Lalor

• Mt View Road, Thomastown

• Clarke St, Thomastown

• Howell St, Lalor

• Alexander Ave, Thomastown (two incidents at this location)

• Stella Drive, Thomastown

Investigators have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.
