Thieves damage headstones, Deception Bay

Police are invesetigating after thieves damaged headstones and stole more than 50 brass plates from a cemetery in Deception Bay over the weekend.

Between 4pm Friday and 8am this morning, six headstones were damaged while 52 brass plates were stolen from the Caboolture and Districts Lawn Cemetery.

It is estimated the total value of the plates stolen from headstones was up to $26,000.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity int eh area or who may have relevant dash cam vision to come forward.
