Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a third man following investigations into an alleged armed robbery in Sydney's west earlier this year.
About 6am on Friday 5 March 2021, emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Merrylands Road at Greystanes, following reports of an armed robbery.
Police were told that four males – armed with weapons – entered the store, before threatening staff and stealing the cash register.
Group fled the area and were last seen travelling in a black BMW M4 with no registration plates,
westbound on Merrylands Road.
A male employee suffered a wound to his forearm during the incident. He was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital for surgery. He has since been released.
Initial inquiries were conducted by Cumberland Police Area Command, before detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Flaumont.
So far during the investigation, officers have arrested two men – aged 18 and 19. The pair were charged and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives arrested an 18-year-old man at Penrith Police Station about 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 4 August 2021).
He was charged with two counts face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, two counts of enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.
The teenager was refused bail to appear a children's court on Wednesday 29 September 2021.
Inquiries under Strike Force Flaumont are continuing.
