Third Man Charged Over Yusuf Nazlioglu Shooting: Police

Homicide detectives have charged a third man over the alleged shooting death of a man in Sydney's Inner West last year.

About 6.30pm on Monday 27 June 2022, emergency services responded to reports that a man had been shot on Walker Street, Rhodes.

Upon arrival, police located a man with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to hospital, but he died a short time later.

He has since been formally identified as 40-year-old Yusuf Nazlioglu.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad – assisted by Burwood Police Area Command – commenced Strike Force Claypinch to investigate the incident.

This investigation subsequently formed part of ongoing inquiries by Taskforce Erebus into several fatal shootings and criminal activities by organised crime networks across Sydney.

Two men, aged 25 and 33, have been charged over their alleged roles and remain before the courts.

Following further extensive inquiries, about 5.30am today (Wednesday 20 December 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from the Public Order & Riot Squad – executed a search warrant in Hinchinbrook where they arrested a 24-year-old man.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with murder and fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.

The man was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today.
