Third person charged after death of man on M1 near Cudgera Creek

A third person has been charged following the death of a man on the state's Far North Coast earlier this month.

Shortly after 7am on Monday 10 February 2020, emergency services were called to the northbound lanes of the M1 near Cudgera Creek, after reports a man had been hit by a truck.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District arrived at the scene and located a man deceased.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 38-year-old woman and 46-year-old man at a home on Kanes Road. Both were charged and remain before the courts.

Detectives established Strike Force Cunjurong to investigate the circumstances leading up to the man's death.

Following further inquiries, a 49-year-old man attended Tweed Heads Police Station yesterday (Thursday 20 February), and spoke to investigators.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage occasion actual bodily harm.

The man has been refused bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court today (Friday 21 February 2020).
