Thomastown twits try to trick police

Police from the Banyule Community Safety Team intercepted an alleged drink driver in Thomastown yesterday (27 April).

Members observed the black BMW driving on the wrong side of Settlement Road just after midnight on Saturday.

It's alleged the female driver tried to get into the passenger seat and have her male passenger assume the position as the driver but they were caught by members attempting to do so.

The driver, a 36-year-old Fairfield woman returned an alleged evidentiary breath test of 0.268

Her licence was immediately cancelled and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $896.10.

She is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic related offences.
