Three arrested after police officer assaulted at Ermington, NSW

Three people have been arrested and inquiries are continuing after a police officer was assaulted during an incident at Ermington overnight, NSW Police say.

Police were called to a community hall on River Road just after 10pm yesterday, following reports of a brawl.

Officers from Rosehill Local Area Command attended and found a number of people fighting.

The group of more than 100 people had been attending a birthday party at the hall.

Officers attempted to disperse the crowd; however, a number of people resisted and refused to leave.

A female officer was then allegedly struck to the back with a chair.

Further police were called and officers from neighbouring commands and specialist units attended and the party was shut down.

Three people were arrested and taken to Rosehill Police Station.

A 19-year-old man was charged with affray, intimidation, and hinder police. The Ermington man was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

An 18-year-old Campsie man was charged with assault police and resist arrest. He was given conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 17 May 2016.

A 17-year-old Dulwich Hill male was given a youth caution for affray.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
