Three Arrested, Stolen Puppy Found in Eastgardens

Three men have been charged as an allegedly stolen puppy was recovered from the state's south.

About 1.40pm on Monday 3 July 2023, police will allege in court that three men allegedly stole an eight-week-old puppy from a pet store on Bunnerong Road, Eastgardens.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were notified commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, officers from Murray River Police District arrested a 31-year-old man in Albury on Wednesday 5 July 2023. He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with shoplifting.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 9 August 2023.

Following further inquiries, investigators arrested two men, aged 21 and 22, in Albury on Monday (17 July 2023).

Both were taken to Albury Police Station, where they were charged with steal dog, shoplifting, dishonestly obtain property by deception, and smoke in smoke-free area.

Both men were refused bail and appeared at Albury Local Court on Tuesday (18 July 2023), where they were both formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday 8 August 2023.

Following further inquiries, investigators attended a home in Lavington, where they allegedly found the stolen puppy about 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday 20 July 2023).

Inquiries are continuing.
