Three people have been charged over an alleged aggravated break and enter in the Central West during which items worth more than $50,000 were stolen.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District were called to a home on Redfern Street, Cowra, about 10.30am Tuesday 7 July 2026, with reports of a break and enter.
Police arrived and were told a group had forced entry into the home between 5.30pm Wednesday 1 July 2026 and 10.30am Tuesday 7 July 2026.
Officers were told property worth more than $50,000 was stolen during the incident, including a mineral rock collection, Australian currency from the 1980s, battery-powered tools, a safe, books and other household items.
The home and garage were ransacked and glass display cabinets smashed.
Following extensive inquiries, about 3pm on Tuesday 18 August 2026, police arrested a 22-year-old man at a unit complex on Dowell Street, Cowra.
During a search of the unit, officers located and seized minerals which matched those reported stolen.
The man was taken to Cowra Police Station where he was charged with four offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle/vessel), and
- Destroy or damage property.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Cowra Local Court on Tuesday 29 September 2026.
Following further inquiries, about 10.20am yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2026), police arrested a 49-year-old man at a unit complex on Victor Street, Cowra.
During a search of the unit, police allegedly located and seized a resealable bag of the drug 'ice' and personal belongings alleged to be stolen.
The man was taken to Cowra Police Station, where he was charged with four offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle/vessel), and
- Destroy or damage property.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 last Friday 21 August 2026.
Following further inquiries, about 8.20am on Tuesday 25 August 2026, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a correctional facility in Silverwater.
He was taken to Cowra Police Station, where he was charged with three offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and
- Destroy or damage property.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 today (Wednesday 26 August 2026).
