Three charged over break-in and theft of cigarettes in Prospect

Police have charged three men over an alleged break-in and theft of more than $20,000 worth of cigarettes in Sydney’s west yesterday. , NSW Police say

It will be alleged just before 3am yesterday (Tuesday 23 October 2018), two men – aged 23 and 25 –forced entry into a closed business in a shopping village on Blacktown Road, Prospect, and stole $22,000 worth of cigarettes.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a vehicle was stopped on Best Road, Seven Hills, about 2.15pm the same day.

During a search of the vehicle, police located several unopened cartons of cigarettes in the boot of the car.

The occupants – three men, aged 23, 25 and 43 – were arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

A search warrant was later executed at a home on Eighth Avenue, Seven Hills, and a number of items were seized.

The 23-year old man was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, and resist arrest.

The 25-year-old man was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Wednesday 24 October 2018).

The 43-year-old man was charged with goods in custody.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 8 November 2018.
