Three men charged over series of break-ins, NSW

A further three men have been charged in relation to a series of alleged break-ins and stealing offences in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Detectives from the Property Crime Squad’s Breaking Unit established Strike Force Seeliger in January 2017 to investigate a number of break-ins at commercial premises in Sydney’s west in 2016 and 2017, where electronic equipment, power tools, cigarettes, and vehicles were stolen.

Following extensive investigations, Strike Force Seeliger detectives arrested a 44-year-old man during a vehicle stop at Richmond, just after 9am on Wednesday (17 May 2017).

He was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with four counts each of larceny and maliciously damage property, two counts of enter enclosed land, steal motor vehicle, and aggravated break, enter and steal.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Penrith Local Court yesterday, where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Friday14 July 2017.

Shortly after the arrest, strike force detectives executed four search warrants at properties in North Richmond, Baulkham Hills, Whalan, and Riverstone, and another at a shipping container stored at Riverstone.

Police located and seized power tools, cannabis plants, cannabis, mobile phones, and electronic equipment.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the Baulkham Hills property and taken to Castle Hill Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal; and steal motor vehicle.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 7 June 2017.

A third man, aged 47, was arrested at a house at North Parramatta, and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence; break, enter and steal; steal motor vehicle, and an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court yesterday, where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 29 June 2017.

Two men – aged 33 and 36 – were previously charged by investigators. They remain before the courts.

Investigations under Strike Force Seeliger are continuing and further charges are expected.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Seeliger investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
