Police have arrested and charged three more people in relation to an alleged cocaine syndicate operating the Sydney metropolitan area, NSW police said.
Strike Force Morti, comprising officers from Botany Local Area Command assisted by Redfern Region Enforcement Squad, was established in April this year to investigate the supply of illicit drugs, primarily cocaine, in the Sydney metropolitan area.
Inquiries revealed a sophisticated syndicate was operating in the greater Sydney area, involving a number of individuals that were allegedly distributing cocaine from several properties across Sydney.
Police yesterday (Wednesday 2 September 2015), arrested six people and executed search warrants at homes in Dulwich Hill, Sydney Olympic Park, Merrylands, Bondi Beach, Granville, Panania, Greystanes and Cranebrook. All six appeared in court today.
As the police operation continued, a further three people were arrested late yesterday and early today:
About 10.30pm yesterday, a 20-year-old man was arrested at Greystanes. He was taken to Merrylands Police Station and was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) (cocaine). He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Friday 4 September 2015).
About 12am today (Thursday 3 September 2015), police arrested a 24-year-old Ermington woman outside Merrylands Police Station. She was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) (cocaine), supply a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, and participate in a criminal activity. She was also refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court tomorrow.
About 9am today, police went to a home in Tadmore Road, Cranebrook, and arrested a 40-year-old man. He was taken to Penrith Police Station and was charged with supply a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis; supply a prohibited drug (indictable quantity); participate in a criminal group; possess a prohibited drug (two counts); and supply cannabis. Police executed a search warrant and allegedly located 50kgof dried cannabis leaf. Bail is yet to be determined.
