Three teens charged after police pursuit, NSW

Three teenagers have been charged following a pursuit that originated in Queensland and was stopped by police in Tweed Heads, NSW Police say.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 24 September 2018), NSW Police were advised by Queensland POLAIR that a stolen vehicle they were monitoring was approaching Murwillumbah.

Road spikes were deployed, but the vehicle continued and a pursuit was initiated.

The car stopped after hitting a Nissan Patrol on Minjungbal Drive in Tweed Heads South and four teenagers fled on foot.

With the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, three teens – two aged 15 and a 16-year-old – were arrested at a nearby shopping centre.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with 13 offences including armed robbery, aggravated break enter and steal, aggravated enter dwelling with intent, police pursuit – dangerous driving, larceny (x2), being carried in conveyance and other serious offences.

Both 15-year-old boys have been charged with being carried in conveyance, and hinder investigation.

They have all been refused bail to appear in court today.

The fourth boy, a 16-year-old, was identified and later arrested by Queensland Police.
