The latest recipients of Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support (IVAIS) funding totalling $49 million over five years have been announced.
The single and multi-year support will help drive the operations of 54 Indigenous-owned arts centres, arts fairs, hubs and service organisations - many which have been impacted by COVID-19.
The funding will also help arts centres continue to champion a professional, viable and ethical arts industry, benefiting more than 8,000 Indigenous artists and 500 arts workers the program supports.
Funded projects include:
- $70,000 for First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation to support the delivery of the National Indigenous Art Fair in Sydney in 2021.
- $550,000 over 5 years to support the Arts Law Centre of Australia's Artists in the Black service and its Licensing the Right Way project to improve licensing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
- $240,000 over 3 years to support Numburindi Arts to provide services to visual artists in the Numbulwar community, located in South-East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.
The IVAIS program provides annual funding of around $21 million through an open competitive grants process and through targeted funding opportunities. It enables Indigenous artists to create new art, earn income, develop professional skills and connect to the art market.
