Share some Christmas magic within our community by donating a gift to the City of Wollongong Giving Tree.
Supported by a long-standing local partnership with Anglicare and St Vincent De Paul Society, Wollongong City Council is accepting gifts to help those in our community doing it tough this Christmas.
The annual appeal asks for unwrapped gifts suitable for children up to 16 years old. Residents have until 14 December to donate so that the gifts can be delivered to Illawarra families in time for Christmas morning.
"The year has just really flown by and now we find ourselves preparing for Christmas," said Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown.
"We know it's an exciting and special time with loved ones, but I also recognise how financially stressful this season can be. For some local families going though challenging times, a gift may be out of reach for their kids.
"So, I'm inviting residents to sprinkle some festive joy and help your local community. If you're able to, please consider adding an extra gift to your shopping list. This small act of kindness goes a long way – and nothing beats the big smiles of a child opening a Christmas present."
