Tobacconist armed robbery - Pyrmont

An investigation has commenced following the armed robbery of a tobacconist in Pyrmont overnight.

Shortly before midnight (Monday 16 September 2019), a man armed with a stick entered the Pyrmont Bridge Road store and approached the attendant.

He jumped the counter and struck the employee across the face with the stick while grabbing cash from the register. He ran from the store and was last seen heading east towards the casino.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the employee for a cut to his face. He did not require further treatment.

Investigations continue.
