Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following the theft from a motor vehicle and the subsequent use of stolen credits cards in Toorak at the beginning of the month, Victoria Police say.
The theft occurred overnight on Monday 7 May when a car parked on Hopetoun Road was broken into and a credit card and other items were stolen.
The credit card was subsequently used at a Caulfield convenience store where a man purchased cigarettes.
Investigators have released CCTV footage and an image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
