Toowoomba Art Gallery Repairs Advancing

Toowoomba city 2026 Australia Day awards

Building rectification works are progressing at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery to address roof issues and damage to parts of the internal building.

The Gallery has been closed since Friday, November 14, 2025, when intense rainfall damaged the building.

The Gallery is expected to remain closed until at least mid-2026.

Some artwork was affected and activities to treat, restore and rehouse items are continuing.

Council especially wishes to acknowledge the swift response of Gallery staff, who have worked tirelessly since the event. Their immediate actions were vital in protecting the collection and supporting its recovery.

Toowoomba Regional Council acknowledges the special role that the facility plays in our community. The Gallery and the artworks, exhibitions and programs it brings to life hold a valued place in our Region's cultural life and identity.

During this temporary closure, Council is working to maintain the meaningful connections our community shares with the Gallery.

The Toowoomba Region Art Galleries' regular exhibition schedule and associated programs are continuing at the Crows Nest Gallery and Goombungee's Rosalie Gallery.

For details of exhibitions at these galleries, please visitwww.tr.qld.gov.au/crowsnestgallery and www.tr.qld.gov.au/rosaliegallery

Further updates will be provided to the community as the recovery and rectification processes progress.
