The Crisafulli Government is a step closer to delivering legacy infrastructure for the Toowoomba Showgrounds, with the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) on the ground seeking feedback on shaping 2032 equestrian facilities.
The Toowoomba Showgrounds will receive major upgrades and become an Equestrian Centre of Excellence ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Early project planning is already underway for the Toowoomba Equestrian Centre of Excellence.
The Crisafulli Government remains focused on delivering generational infrastructure through its 2032 Delivery Plan, after 1200 wasted days of Labor Games chaos.
Treasurer and Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki said locals could play a key role in long-term legacy outcomes.
"With GIICA on the ground showgoers can have their say in shaping lasting infrastructure that is truly in character with our city," Treasurer Janetzki said.
"When we said the 2032 Olympics would be for all of Queensland, we meant it and the Crisafulli Government is getting the Darling Downs games ready.
"This is not just infrastructure for the Olympics - but for generations to come who will see our region as the heart and soul of equestrian in our State."
Treasurer Janetzki also congratulated Darling Downs equestrian legend Chris Burton who today received the Key to the City.
"Chris grew up with me at Brymaroo - and it's been an absolute privilege to watch his success over the years at three Olympic Games including silver in Paris," he said.
"Chris' passion for bringing the Games to Toowoomba has been second to none, and I'm grateful for his advocacy which helped bring this once in a lifetime event to the Darling Downs.
"Shaped by his family, Chris richly deserves this acknowledgement as he receives the key to our wonderful city."
Mr Burton said it's an incredible honour to be granted the key to his home city.
"Having the equestrian for the 2032 Games in Toowoomba, where my equestrian career started is extremely nostalgic for me," he said.
"Like many equestrians from the Darling Downs, I'm extremely proud and excited to see this project unfold."
The planning and approvals process for the Toowoomba Showgrounds upgrade will continue throughout 2026.
