Toowoomba's iconic Queens Park has been awarded the 2025 International Green Flag Award, marking the second year in a row the park has achieved this globally recognised honour.
Toowoomba Regional Council Parks and Recreation Services portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tim McMahon said the achievement highlighted the dedication of Council staff along with Council's ongoing commitment to preserving high-quality public spaces.
"Receiving the Green Flag Award for the second consecutive year is an incredible honour for the Toowoomba Region and a testament to the exceptional work of our Parks and Recreation team," Cr McMahon said.
"Queens Park is one of our region's most treasured destinations, and to have it recognised on the international stage again shows just how special this place is.
"The criteria for the Green Flag Award are rigorous, and earning this recognition means Queens Park ranks among the best-managed public parks anywhere in the world," he said.
Councillor McMahon said the award also reinforces Toowoomba's reputation as the Garden Region.
"This achievement reflects our ongoing investment in creating well-maintained, sustainable and welcoming spaces for residents and visitors. We are incredibly proud to see Queens Park continue to shine internationally."
Queens Park remains one of Toowoomba's most visited attractions, hosting community events, recreational activities and cherished moments for families year-round.
The Green Flag Award is the international benchmark for excellence in the management of parks and green spaces.
Administered across more than 20 countries, the award assesses parks against strict criteria including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability, community involvement and overall visitor experience.
Only parks that demonstrate the highest levels of best-practice management receive Green Flag status, making it one of the most challenging and respected awards in the sector.
