Tracy McLeod Howe starts as new CAPS CEO

The Child Abuse Prevention Service (CAPS) is delighted to welcome Tracy McLeod Howe as our new CEO. Tracy is an advocate who brings with her a wealth of experience from across the not for profit and government sectors, as former CEO of the NSW Council of Social Service, Domestic Violence NSW, co-chair of the Social Innovation Council and Commissioner of the NSW Law Reform Commission.

Chair Andrew Grech said that "We are thrilled to have such an accomplished and passionate leader join CAPS as we continue to deliver our evidence-based programs designed to end all forms of child maltreatment".

"With Tracy's appointment we are now entering an exciting growth phase that will see CAPS work more closely with government, corporates and any other organisations that wish to benefit from all we have learned delivering frontline child protection services over the last 46 years".

McLeod Howe said, "Now that the issue of child protection is finally being given the national attention that it deserves, I am more hopeful than ever that the community is ready to come together to end child abuse forever. I particularly look forward to shining a spotlight on the devastating impacts of childhood domestic violence".

Examining how all areas of society need to work together to protect our children will be a key topic to be discussed at the CAPS Safe Children Conference in Sydney on 22 October 2019. The annual event provides the platform for the national conversation on child protection matters, ensuring that the issue remains at the forefront long after the conclusion of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

About CAPS

Established in 1973, the Child Abuse Prevention Service (CAPS) is the oldest child abuse prevention organisation in Australia. We are a non-government, non-religious charitable organisation that works with vulnerable children and people across Australia to prevent child maltreatment in all its forms, including emotional, physical and sexual abuse. We provide evidence-based educational programs that build well-being, emotional resiliency and create the strong family environments needed to ensure that children are safe, supported, and loved. Our staff are experienced educational psychologists that are well-equipped to deliver programs designed to increase protective behaviours in children and forever break the cycle of abuse.
