Traffic Crash - Wentworth St Howrah - Motor Vehicle and Cyclist collision, TAS

At about 4.30pm on Saturday 26th May 2018 a 65 year old male cyclist from Bellerive was riding down Wentworth Street Howrah when he has been involved in a crash with a white Subaru Forester being driven by a 26 year old female from Howrah, Tasmania Police say.

The Forester has turned into Baragoon Street Howrah in front of the cyclist as he was travelling across the intersection.  As a result the cyclist was thrown from his bike and landed heavily on the roadway and suffered extensive facial injuries.

Bystanders provided assistance until emergency services arrived.

The rider was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital and is listed as in a stable condition.  The driver was subjected to a blood test for the presence of drugs or alcohol in accordance with normal investigative procedures.

Any witness who hasn’t already provided their details at the crash scene who saw either the white Subaru Forester or the cyclist immediately prior to the crash or may have witnessed the crash are asked to contact Bellerive police.
