Traffic incident in Slacks Creek, QLD

A police officer has been injured after he tried to apprehend an offender in a stolen vehicle in Slacks Creek overnight, Queensland Police say.

Officers were patrolling on Christopher Street in Slacks Creek at 11.25pm when they noticed a car parked on the side of the road.

Police have made enquiries and confirmed that the vehicle was stolen, so the officers have parked a short distance away.

As they were conducting further enquiries, two male juveniles have approached the vehicle and started the car.

Two officers approached the car and attempted to take the juveniles into custody.

During a struggle, the car accelerated forward and jumped a gutter before scraping down the side of a police vehicle.

One officer continued to attempt to restrain one of the juveniles and was dragged next to the car for a short distance before he released the offender and the car then sped off.

The constable was treated on the scene for an injury to his elbow.

Investigations are continuing.
