Transit Unit Probes Copper Theft

Transit Division Response Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after over $300,000 worth of scrap metal was stolen in three incidents earlier this year.

Investigators have been told two/three men attended a business on Maria Street, Laverton North about 3am on 27 April in a flatbed truck.

It is alleged the trio/duo loaded scrap metal and copper worth $5,000 onto the vehicle before driving off.

Police believe the same group attended a business on Vella Drive, Sunshine West about 3.15am on 30 April.

Approximately $5,000 worth of copper cable was stolen and a flatbed truck was seen at the time of the theft.

On 7 May a depot on Holden Road, Plumpton was broken into about 3am.

Approximately $300,000 worth of copper and equipment was stolen.

Investigators have released images of three man they believe may be able to assist with their enquires and a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the thefts.
