Property Council ACT & Capital Region Executive Director Ashlee Berry said the announcements marked important progress for a growing region with significant housing and employment needs.
"Better transport access underpins the future growth of our region," Ms Berry said.
"The ACT-NSW border region is one of the fastest growing cross jurisdictional labour markets in the country, with strong demand for new homes and employment precincts.
"These commitments show welcome progress towards a more reliable, better-connected ACT-NSW corridor, vital for housing supply, workforce mobility and the continued growth of Canberra and surrounding centres.
"Upgraded stations at Canberra and Yass, alongside a long-term transport plan, will support the region's future growth by improving the daily experience of residents, commuters and visitors.
"Stronger links between key centres like Queanbeyan, Goulburn, Bega and Canberra will also help facilitate new investment and the delivery of future jobs and homes," she said.
The proposed upgrades – funded through the Safe Accessible Transport Program – and the release of the 20-year Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan focus on safer, more connected and more dependable transport links across the ACT-NSW cross border region.
"For the property industry, better transport infrastructure is fundamental to supporting housing supply, unlocking job precincts and lifting productivity," Ms Berry said.
"Improved station accessibility, stronger regional corridors and enhanced bus connections will all help shape the investment confidence needed for the region's next phase of growth.
"To maximise the benefits of these upgrades, planning around key stations and cross border corridors must be sequenced with future housing and employment precincts.
"We'll continue working with government to make sure future transport investment aligns with the region's housing and employment needs, including through participation in the consultation processes now open for the proposed station designs and to review the broader transport plan," she said.
