Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting business operators to apply for its new Niche Tourism Development Incentive that is designed to strengthen support for tourism activities with an eye on opportunities ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympic Games and beyond.
TRC Economic Development portfolio spokesperson Cr Edwina Farquhar said Council's latest incentive was open in addition to new opportunities for operators through two major Queensland Government programs. (* See details below)

"The initiatives highlight our Region's many strengths and build on our growing reputation as a must-visit destination," Cr Farquhar said.
"We know Toowoomba has all the ingredients to be a leading regional destination - from our breathtaking escarpment views, pristine parks and gardens, rich First Nations heritage, through to our farmstays, food and wine, country charm, adventure, sport and cultural experiences.
"With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games approaching, Council is working with industry and government partners to ensure we're ready to welcome the world. These new incentives and funding programs will help create the kinds of signature experiences visitors will be seeking."
Cr Farquhar said the Niche Tourism Development Incentive would be available year-round and was designed to attract investment in ecotourism, agritourism, Indigenous-led tourism, sport tourism and adventure-based ventures.
"It offers benefits such as discounts on infrastructure charges and other cost relief, reducing barriers for operators and developers to bring forward projects that reflect the Toowoomba Region's unique identity," Cr Farquhar said.
"Potential developments include eco-lodges overlooking The Great Dividing Range, farmstay and agri-tourism experiences, Indigenous cultural tourism ventures, boutique adventure trails and sports tourism facilities, all of which showcase our Region's natural beauty and diverse experiences."
Queensland Government Grants open

Cr Farquhar said Council was encouraging local tourism businesses and investors to consider how these programs could complement the Niche Tourism Development Incentive.
"By combining Council's incentive with the State Government's substantial investment funds, we have a powerful platform to deliver the kinds of tourism infrastructure and experiences that will boost our visitor economy and strengthen communities across our Region," Cr Farquhar said.
