Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will conduct a review of the Empire Theatres Pty Ltd's controlled entity structure.
TRC CEO Sal Petroccitto OAM said, "This is consistent with the approach I have taken for all of Council's activities since becoming CEO as we need to challenge ourselves on what the best approach is moving forward to meet our organisational requirements."
"The review will focus on the benefits that alternative structures for the controlled entity may provide.
"The Empire Theatre is a critical and highly valued asset to this community which provides valuable art and cultural services to the residents and visitors of this Region which is why we will continue to work with the Board to deliver the best value for our community."
The Directors of the Empire Theatre Board will remain in place until 17 April 2026, when the review is expected to be completed.
Pending the outcome of the review, Council will commence any necessary recruitment processes for the Empire Theatres Pty Ltd's Board before expiry of the appointments (noting existing Directors may reapply).
