Treasurer admits to having a spending problem

  • Treasurer: spending problem, not revenue problem
  • Revenues to increase by $189 million
  • The Treasurer has admitted that he has a spending problem, not revenue problem.

Under questioning today, the Treasurer admitted that revenues will actually increase by $189 million in the coming financial year.

Despite this, the Minority Liberal Government is plunging the state into $1.1 billion in net debt.

Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon said the Treasurer's spin had been exposed.

"The Treasurer has used every excuse under the sun for taking the state into net debt, including expenditure on infrastructure and a fall in revenues," Mr Bacon said.

"Revenues increase every year of the forward estimates and the additional infrastructure spending does not explain why the State is heading for $1.1 billion.

"The true explanation is the Minority Liberal Government's reckless spending, including bloated Ministerial offices and cosy payouts to Liberal mates."
