Truck driver charged after fatal crash – Palm Beach

A man will appear in court today charged following a fatal two-vehicle crash on Sydney’s Northern Beaches yesterday.

Just before 9am (Sunday 11 April 2021), emergency services were called to Barrenjoey Road, near Surf Road, Palm Beach, following reports a truck and a motorcycle collided.

The rider, a 46-year-old man, was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.

The truck driver, a 29-year-old Queensland man, was not injured and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital where he underwent mandatory testing.

He was arrested at the hospital and taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving – occasioning death.

The man was refused bail to appear before Manly Local Court today (Monday 12 April 2021).
