Truck drivers airlifted to hospital after Schofields crash

Two truck drivers have been injured when their vehicles collided, hit a house and one caught fire at Schofields.

The crash happened on Heathland Avenue about 10.15pm (Tuesday 24 December 2019), when two Pantech-type trucks collided at the intersection of Antonia Parade.

Both trucks then continued into the front of a two-storey house, with one truck catching fire.

Neighbouring residents extinguished the blaze, and assisted the driver from the cabin; however, the second driver was trapped and had to be released by officers from Fire and Rescue NSW.

Both drivers have sustained serious leg fractures and have been airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

The house's brick façade has been damaged and a family in the home at the time are shaken but otherwise uninjured.

Crash Investigation Unit officers are now en route to the scene.
