Tugan border breach and traffic crash

A 21-year-old Booval woman has been charged with multiple traffic offences, directed to quarantine and fined $4,135 for breaching the Chief Health Officer's border direction after allegedly driving into Queensland at Tugan this morning.

Around 12pm, NSW Police Force officers responded to reports of a vehicle, believed to be stolen, travelling on the M1 at Sleepy Hollow.

The vehicle failed to stop when directed, and a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later and the vehicle illegally crossed into Queensland

After failing to stop at the M1 Vehicle Check Point the 4WD travelled north for a short period before colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of Guineas Creek Road and K P McGrath Drive, Elanora. There were no injuries.

Queensland Police Service responded to the traffic crash and the woman was arrested and directed to quarantine.

She was issued a Notice to Appear for unlicensed driving, driving without due care and attention and driving an unregistered vehicle.

The woman will undertake compulsory hotel quarantine at her expense.
