Turbocharging Tourism: George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens Enhancing Visitor Experiences

The George Brown Darwin BotanicGardens $9.9 million visitor and event centre interpretive display is one stepcloser with the fit out commencing last month.

The works have created 45construction jobs as part of the Territory Labor Government's TurbochargingTourism investment to breathe new life into the Gardens, attracting visitors, stimulatingthe economy and creating jobs.

The interpretive display tells the historyof the Gardens, the story of the Holtze family, George Brown and of its movefrom Fannie Bay to the current location.

Visitors will be able to exploretraditional stories and Aboriginal botanical knowledge with exhibitions anddisplays centred on plants, places and people who have made our gardens unique.

Local architect Hully Liveris engagedFreeman Ryan Designs (FRD) to design the internal layout and curate thepermanent exhibition inside the centre.

FRD has created national andinternational exhibitions and visitor experiences including the Dinosaurs inthe Wild travelling exhibition in the UK, as well as Yiwarra Kuju: the CanningStock Route at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.

Local creative visual productioncompany, Global Headquarters, has been roaming the Gardens filming the floraand fauna to create a visual and sound display that showcases its beautifulsurrounds.

The Gardens area stunning tropical destination and visitors will be able to experience avisual and sound display that highlights flora and fauna activity throughoutthe wet and dry seasons, and take respite while they are enjoying the Gardens.
