Two arrested after Morphett Vale pursuit , SA

Two men have been arrested following a short pursuit at the southern suburbs overnight, according to SA Police.

Just before 3am Thursday 18 October, a police patrol spotted a black Holden Astra speeding east on Beach Road at Morphett Vale. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly refused and it was followed south down Marjorca Road at Hackham West, when the Astra hit a kerb going through a round-about puncturing a front tyre.

The Astra came to stop shortly after and five men from the car all jumped out and ran off. Two of the men were quickly rounded-up.

A search by a police dog patrol was unsuccessful and the three remaining men are currently being sought.

A search of the Astra which wasn't reported stolen, uncovered two tomahawks in the rear of the car, plus a bucket of all silver coins and a mask in the boot.

The two men arrested by police who were both passengers in the Astra, a 40-year-old man from Hackham West has been charged with fail to truly answer and a 19-year-old man from Christies Beach has been charged with carrying an offensive weapon, in regards to a tomahawk.

Both men are expected to be bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police enquiries are continuing as to the coins in the car, and locating the driver who is known to police.

There were no injuries and no damage to police vehicles. The Astra seized police, where it will be forensically tested.
